Inclusion through recruitment

Chad and his team offer outreach activities to diverse audiences and they want their teams to reflect the diversity within the city. Inclusion Through Recruitment promotes equality through the recruitment of staff at The Whitworth and Manchester Museum.

Each element of the recruitment process was examined and reconfigured. Job descriptions are now jargon-free and people from all abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Jobs are routinely advertised through social media channels and local support organisations, and informal open days allow people to come in and meet the team.

Since introduction, the number of disabled staff being employed at The Whitworth and Manchester Museum has increased from 3% to 11% and BME staff from 0% to 13%.
