Supporting students in financial hardship

Many University of Manchester students are facing real financial hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Students who normally rely on income from part-time or summer work are facing a loss of income. And many international students remain in Manchester, with no idea when they’ll be able to return home.

That’s why The University's community is coming together to support these students. We’ve created a new Emergency Hardship Fund, to make sure Manchester students aren’t left struggling as a result of the pandemic.

We’re off to a good start – with a combination of University funding and donations from staff, alumni and other members of our community. Every donation is currently being matched by a generous graduate, making it worth twice as much to our students. Every pound raised will directly support students facing financial need as a result of the pandemic – both now and in the months ahead.
