Operation Santa Claus MBA Challenge

Operation Santa Claus MBA Challenge is an annual fundraising campaign in Hong Kong which is jointly organised by South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).

A team of five MBA students from The University of Manchester Worldwide East Asia Centre, took part in the Challenge by forming the “Ginger Heart 2017” team. They were successful in fundraising for a number of charities, with the aim of benefitting the underprivileged in the region.

The team raised funds by Fintech seminars and shopping mall vouchers, given to the group by sponsors. They co-organised alumni for a basketball free throw shooting contest plus a networking drinks event. The team managed the events from scratch and the students gave their own time on top of their full-time work committments, workshops and examinations, to design and execute the fund raising plan.

The team through their enormous efforts not only exceeded the fund-raising target and closed at HK$100,000, they also won all the Top 3 Awards: “Top Fundraiser Award”, “Fringebacker Outstanding Online Fundraiser Award” and 1st runner up of “Best Santa in Community Contribution”.
