The School Governor Initiative hits new highs

The school governor initiative, now in its 6th year, continues to hit new highs with an increased number of staff becoming school governors in recent months.

With staff numbers standing at just under 200 governors and Alumni numbers above 350, we are maintaining a strong position in the recruitment tables of our partners SGOSS and Inspiring Governance.

During March we held two Faculty events as part of a further drive to boost staff governor numbers. Our first event was in the Faculty of Science & Engineering and the second in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health. These events were supported by SGOSS and Inspiring Governance who came to speak to staff about their services. To find out more about the work of these two organisations and to register your interest, please take a look at their websites.

In April the University’s annual staff school governor conference will take place at Chancellors Conference Centre with an excellent line up of keynote speakers and workshops covering a wide range of themes. This will be the University’s 5th annual conference and is open to current staff and alumni governors. Any staff or alumni wishing to find out more about the University’s school governor initiative can do so on Staffnet and any members of staff who are currently a governor but are not part of the University network can contact Alison Gregory to register.
