White Ribbon Day

Mon, 22 Nov 2021 11:53:00 GMT

Our University is supporting White Ribbon Day, a campaign to end violence against women which started on Thursday, 25 November and runs for 16 days.

Organisers are asking people in their communities, organisations and workplaces to come together, and say ‘no’ to violence against women.

As well as supporting the campaign, we’re reminding colleagues that help and support for anyone of any gender suffering from domestic violence or coercion is available from our University.

Our People and Organisational Development Director, Adèle MacKinlay said: “There is no place for violence against women, or any person in our community. Our University is proud to help and support victims, be they our staff or students, and to back this vital campaign to bring people together to call it out, give support and put an end to it.”

To get support

If you or someone you are concerned about has experienced domestic abuse of any kind, be it coercion and control, financial abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse or other behaviours, there is help for you.

You may access the support services below directly. Or your first step may to be to tell someone you trust – a friend, a lecturer, a colleague or manager, and to ask for help with reporting.

If you are in immediate danger, you should call 999. If you are in danger and unable to talk on the phone you can press 55 once you are through to 999. This will transfer the call to the relevant police force who will assist you without you having to speak.
