The Sustainable Development Goals

World leaders could help transform the fight against poverty and inequality.

But without real commitment from all governments to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, tackling poverty, inequality and climate change in every country, we will miss the opportunity to create a more equitable world for our grandchildren.

Professor David Hulme, of The University of Manchester, warns that the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set to be agreed by over 150 global leaders in New York at the end of the week, could be the world’s best chance to make development a truly global project rather than something imposed on the world’s poorest from afar.

Ahead of the summit in New York, Professors Uma Kothari and David Hulme debate the key SDG issues and prospects for success in this new video.
