Social Responsibility

Supporting local communities

The University engages with its local communities in a number of ways:

The University of Manchester and its main construction partners – Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke and Sir Robert McAlpine - have established a £20,000 fund to support neighbourhood initiatives in areas closest to the University’s construction sites around Oxford Road and near Owens Park, Wilmslow Road.

The University owns and funds a wide range of spaces used and enjoyed by the public right across the city region. In additional, members of our local communities may also have access to other spaces on the University campus.

Each year we open our doors to our local friends and neighbours to discover the variety of things that go on at the University of Manchester. Visitors go behind the scenes at the University to find out all about our work and get hands-on with a variety of exciting activities.
