MICRA launches report on the ‘golden generation’

In July the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) held an event to launch a new report, ‘The Golden Generation?’, which examines wellbeing and inequalities in later life.

The report presents research findings and policy recommendations from the five-year ‘Frailty, Resilience and Inequality in Later Life’ programme, led by Professor James Nazroo, School of Social Sciences. The briefing event also included presentations from Professor Martin Vernon, National Clinical Director for Older People, Paul McGarry, Head of the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub, and Dan Jones from the Centre for Ageing Better.

‘The Golden Generation?’ concludes that the experience of older age is strongly determined by social and economic circumstances and highlights that there are significant inequalities that continue into later life.

The report is now available online.
