Corridor Manchester Cycling Event

At the beginning of February, the University, alongside other Corridor Manchester partners, hosted another successful cycle event. There was a real sense of community amongst the cyclists, and not only because they had a free breakfast to look forward to after their crisp commute. The University had to say a sad goodbye to Michael Bane who is leaving the University. Michael has volunteered his spare time for the past seventeen years to encourage people to get on their bikes. Through Michael’s dedication countless people have now engaged in cycling that may not have if it wasn’t for his commitment and enthusiasm.

The University of Manchester Bike Users Group (UMBUG) and the Environmental Sustainability Team supported the event and showcased their Video Commute Project. UMBUG would like to collate a library of cycling videos from across Manchester to promote cycling. For more information please visit the UMBUG website.

Any staff or postgraduate students interested in taking part in future monthly cycle events can visit the Corridor Manchester website for a full list of events and how to sign up using Eventbrite. The Environmental Sustainability Team will also keep you updated on future events via Think Sustainability Twitter account and Facebook page.
