Our work with supplementary schools

On Saturday 20 May the University welcomed guests from Supplementary Schools across Manchester to a special celebration event to recognise the achievements of the young people and the diversity of the City of Manchester.

The event, which was organised in conjunction with Manchester City Council, saw some 200 children with their teachers, family and friends celebrate and showcase their diverse mix of cultural dance and song.

The newly sworn in Lord Mayor of Manchester Mr Eddie Newman was also in attendance and awarded the children their certificates. After the event people gathered to enjoy some traditional foods made by the parents and teachers of the representative schools.

We would like to thank all the University staff and student ambassadors who supported the event on the day and worked hard to ensure the event ran smoothly.
