Funding secured to further develop antibiotic resistance game

Roger Harrison and Joanne Pennock have secured funding from The University of Manchester Intellectual Property Team’s Ignite grant to support the continued development of innovative game-based activity ‘OUTBREAK’ to educate children and families about antibiotic drug resistance.

‘OUTBREAK on the Farm’ demonstrates the impact of the farming and agriculture sector on antibiotic resistance. The games are based on the principle of scavenger hunts and use an application called ActionBound to simulate an antibiotics resistance epidemic in the real world.

The game will be piloted at local farm open days and also used in schools and zoos.
