Help Manchester RAG raise thousands during RAG Week

Manchester RAG is the fundraising arm of the Students’ Union. They are a student-led society which has existed for decades, annually running ‘RAG Week’; a week of fun and sometimes crazy activities in aid of good causes.

From 11-17th April, this year’s RAG Week at Manchester will raise awareness of the impact charitable giving has on our campus, students and research. Staff are invited to join students in raising money for two great causes – The RAG Community Fund makes small grants to local charities, while Student Hardship at the University, helps talented students complete their studies when they face sudden financial difficulties through no fault of their own.

We are encouraging staff to plan their own fundraising event – a bake sale, a sponsored challenge, or perhaps a clothes-swap?

Or staff can get involved in the Purple Pig Challenge, for the chance of winning a great prize.

All they need to do is:

Step 1: Pick up a purple piggy bank on Monday (collection point times and locations will be published on Staffnet)

Step 2: Fill the pig with spare change (getting your colleagues to help!). Post pictures to Twitter with ‘#IloveUoM’

Step 3: Return your pig on Friday 15 April

The prize for the the highest amount collected is a behind-the-scenes tour to ‘Meet the Mummies’ at Manchester Museum and the best ‘pig-pic’ on Twitter prize is lunch for two at Christie’s Bistro.
