Help support our Equity and Merit Scholarships

Our Equity and Merit Scholarships aim to assist talented but economically disadvantaged students from some of the world’s poorest countries. The scholarships are jointly funded by the University and its donors. The University waives the tuition fee in full and the generosity of donors covers students’ living costs, flights to the UK and visas.

Since it began, a total of 181 scholarships have been awarded to exceptional individuals from Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Bangladesh who are determined to make a difference to their home communities.

Our Equity & Merit alumni in Uganda are currently fundraising to support a deserving student to study at Manchester as their way of giving back. We thought it would be great to support them in their efforts, so staff from the International Office and other parts of the Directorate for the Student Experience, along with current Equity & Merit students, have signed up as part of the University of Manchester “Purple Wave” at the Manchester 10K. The team will be running & fundraising to support the University’s Equity & Merit Scholarships. If you’d like to join them then it’s not too late to sign up. Or you can just show your support on their Just Giving page.
