Transformational social enterprise projects land Enactus Manchester a place in the semi-final

Enactus Manchester reached the semi-finals of this year’s Enactus UK National Expo for their leading social enterprise projects – competing for a chance to represent Enactus UK in the 2019 Enactus World Cup in Silicon Valley, USA.

Enactus, who are a global non-profit community of student, academic and business leaders, saw over 32 teams present inspiring entrepreneurial action and business projects which aim to transform lives and create a better, more sustainable world. The organisation supports young people to engage in youth social action and youth social enterprise.

Enactus Manchester showcased two of their projects: Blossom – a new social enterprise which will work with refugee women in Manchester to create and sell artisanal crafts online, and Speak Up – a project that has been running for six years to empower migrant parents in Greater Manchester by providing free, accessible weekly English classes at six primary schools.

Their team of over 100 students develop and volunteer on enterprising projects to help the community. This year, they have given over 6,000 volunteering hours to their projects and have raised a substantial amount of money, including £500 through the Masood Enterprise Centre’s Venture Out competition and £495 through fundraising events.
