Giving Tuesday
On Tuesday 27 November, the world is celebrating #GivingTuesday! Giving Tuesday is an international day for people to do ‘good stuff’, to recognise what is already being done and to encourage people to consider giving time, money or supporting a worthwhile cause.
There are lots of opportunities to mark Giving Tuesday across the campus, allowing staff and students to discover new ways of giving, including a swap shop, HeartStart CPR training sessions, and the Making a Difference Fair.
SwapShop – Renold Building, 11.30am-2.30pm
There are lots of clothes, shoes, books, gifts, toys, and homeware to swap your items for at the SwapShop in the Renold Building. We are raising money for The Proud Trust and leftover items are going to be donated to Barnabus. Alongside the SwapShop we have a cake sale selling a variety of sweet treats to raise even more money for charity!
For students: Making a Difference Fair – Renold Building, 11.30am-2.30pm
To engage with and encourage students to volunteer their time, the Making a Difference Fair is being run on the Renold Building concourse. The University and external charities are highlighting how our students can make an impact across issues such as homelessness, public engagement, girls in STEM, and sustainability. A total of 21 charities and organisations will be present, including Emmeline’s Pantry, Antibiotic Guardians, ReachOut, Engineers Without Borders, and RAG.
HeartStart CPR training – Barnes Wallis Building, 12.15-2.00pm
Staff and students will also be learning some emergency lifesaving skills in one of the HeartStart CPR training sessions, running at 12.15pm and 1.15pm. We hope to train around 40 people who will come away knowing these vital skills.
