Helping create sustainable cities by valuing global communities

Our commitment to social responsibility is demonstrated in the way we strive to make positive societal difference in local communities and in communities located around the world, no matter how hard the challenge.

Today, 55% of the world’s population live in cities and towns. Some communities are faced with social inequality and a lack of urban resources, reduced living and outdoor space, population density, poor sanitisation, water pollution and limited access to clean water issues that have been exacerbated by COVID-19.

Our experts share their views on how cities across Brazil, China and India can be made fairer, more resilient and sustainable against the backdrop of the pandemic.

Leading experts from the University and the Federal University of Goiás take a look at the development of Brazil’s urban communities and how they have been affected by the coronavirus.

We hear from some of our leading experts in sustainable cities on how China could lead the way in urbanisation.

Dr Deljana Iossifova, Senior Lecturer in Urban Studies, School of Environment, Education and Development, discusses one of the most important global challenges: universal access to water.
