Giving Tuesday is here!

Tuesday, 30 November is Giving Tuesday – the international day to give back and once again the University is supporting our staff and students to get involved.

In these difficult times, Giving Tuesday is a day where everyone can do something to support the good causes that mean so much to them. You can volunteer your time, donate money, share your skills, campaign for a cause, donate food or clothes, organise a community event such as a park clean-up or a coffee morning. The list really is endless!

The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), which runs the campaign in the UK, has revealed figures from Visa showing that £20.2 million was donated via their payment platforms in the UK on Giving Tuesday 2020. This amounts to £14,000 a minute – and is a 42% rise in donations made through Visa compared to Giving Tuesday in 2019.

How we're celebrating Giving Tuesday

Inviting you to support the Rewrite Cancer Appeal

The Rewrite Cancer Appeal is an amazing opportunity to make a lasting difference to the future of cancer research. Back in 2017 a catastrophic fire took place at the University's Paterson building, where most of Manchester’s cancer research took place. It was a huge setback. Now the University along with partners Cancer Research UK and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, are inviting you to support their appeal to create a world-leading new cancer centre

Saying thank you

Today isn’t just about thinking about ways you could give – it is also an opportunity to say thank you and we'd like to thanks our University staff for all their giving.

Staff donations via our Payroll Giving Scheme during the past 12 months has been exceptional, with over £145,627.55 being donated to great causes. Yet again this is another phenomenal year of giving during difficult times.
