The 10^th Cohort of Manchester Access Programme Students Enter The University

The Manchester Access Programme (MAP), the University’s flagship widening access programme, supports the progression to university of talented young people from less advantaged backgrounds living and studying in Greater Manchester. The programme embodies the University’s goal to be a socially responsible institution, making a difference to the communities around it.

Over the last year we have been celebrating the 10^th anniversary of the programme by following the progress of our 10^th MAP cohort. This recently culminated in a special welcome event for our 10^th cohort students starting a degree at Manchester this September, to recognise their success and showcase the range of support and opportunities available to help them ‘Make the Most of Manchester’.

All MAP students at Manchester receive an Undergraduate Access Scholarship which is generously supported by the University’s alumni community and students attend an information session where they can learn more about their scholarship and the donors who support it.

To date, 1,602 MAP students have been successful in gaining a place with many progressing to research-intensive universities and 582 MAP students have graduated from Manchester, going on to progress to a range of professional roles.

MAP wouldn’t be possible without the contributions of staff and students from across the University and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported MAP during the last 10 years.
