Our new academic year has finally started, which means the countdown to some of The University’s biggest online events, including the Social Justice Challenge has officially begun.

On 25 September, all of the University’s first year undergraduate students were invited to take part in the Social Justice Challenge – an online activity, which introduces students to current social justice issues, such as race, migration, homelessness, mental health and education. The challenge forms part of our signature Ethical Grand Challenges programme, which engages undergraduates with key global issues.

Thousands of first years have also been able to log onto Blackboard to complete the challenge, learning how they can tackle a number of issues during their time at University, and beyond. As well as introducing students to the challenges of social justice, the online activity introduces students to the kind of university Manchester is: committed to making a difference.

For our first year undergraduate students this marks their first step towards achieving the Stellify Award, The University of Manchester’s most prestigious extra-curricular accolade.
