New Head of Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement

Mags Bradbury has been appointed as the University’s Head of Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement.

This new role is based in Julian Skyrme’s team in the Office for Social Responsibility. Mags will be working with a wide range of people, inside and outside the University, to develop and implement strategies that enhance the contribution the University makes to the city region and beyond, across our full range of functions.

Mags will support the development of the University’s own civic engagement work – a key theme in the Our Future plan; our work to implement the new Civic University Agreement; and enhancing our impact towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Prior to joining the University, Mags worked at the University of Leeds, at the Co-op where she led on national programmes on education, community partnership and inclusion. More recently she worked at Manchester University Foundation Trust where she was the Associate Director for Wellbeing, Inclusion and Community.

Commenting on her appointment, Mags said: “I’m excited to be joining a university with an outstanding track record in social responsibility and civic engagement. I am really proud to be part of an organisation that has social responsibility as part of its core vision. I am looking forward to helping the University continue to build this agenda in partnership with the staff, students, and our communities.”

Dr Julian Skyrme, Director of Social Responsibility, said: “Following an extensive national search we are delighted to recruit Mags to our University. Mags brings with her extensive experience – from the private sector, across the schools system and from the NHS. Mags’s appointment will help us take forward a wide range of priorities across our social responsibility and civic engagement goals.”
