The votes have been tallied and the judges scores have now been confirmed.

We can now announce the winning entries for the Images of Research Competition 2012:

  • Overall winner by public vote – Borders beyond borders – Benjamin Tallis (pictured)
  • First runner up – A whole world on our hands – Peter Elliott & Jonathan Butler
  • Second runner up – Home is where we should be safest – Gemma Sou
  • Third runner up – The medicine is in my hands – Bryn Trevelyan James
  • Highly commended – An ancient arachnid – Russell Garwood

We had a fantastic response to this competition in terms of entries and public interest. The competition also featured on the BBC News website and BBC Radio Manchester.

Thank you all for being a part of this public engagement initiative, which was a part of this year’s excellent Manchester Science Festival!
