Our January event that was postponed due to snow is now being held on 19 February 2013, so sign up to bid for funding to support excellent public engagement.

This opportunity is open to anyone from the Science faculties and not only will you get some funding, but you’ll get a mentor to offer valuable advice and guidance along the way. Sound too good to miss?

You can apply as an individual or a team and all you have to do is prepare a pitch and present on the morning of Tuesday 19 February. You need to explain your plans within 7 mins and answer a few questions from the small friendly panel.

You need to be able to deliver the project over the next 12 months and the panel will be looking for enthusiasm, creativity and clarity in your plans. Your idea could win funds up to the value of £150 and, not only that, but crucially you will be paired with an experienced mentor to help you to put your ideas into practice.

When: Tuesday 19 February 2013, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Where: Michael Smith Building.

We will meet in the Michael Smith reception for coffee and muffins at 10am. Presentations start at 10:30am in the lecture theatre, followed by lunch and networking.

Registration is open to all students and staff from the Science faculties. Please use this online form to register, as places are limited.

This event follows on from the training session we ran last year (see here) but is not limited to participants from that session. In fact this initiative is open to the research community in the Faculty of Life Sciences, the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Note: applicants who are not students or staff of the University of Manchester must present an idea that is in collaboration with someone from the University of Manchester.

This is a cross-faculty initiative at The University of Manchester. Organisers include: Ceri Harrop, Amanda Bamford, Kate Dack & Dee-Ann Johnson.
