If you happen to be at a loose end in Manchester this weekend, then we have just the thing – pop along to the Science Spectacular!

Saturday 27 October 2012, 11am – 3pm, The University of Manchester, Whitworth Hall & Manchester Museum, on Oxford Road. Free, drop in event.

Take part in our chocolate impact tests, make your own graphene, find out why lotus leaves don’t get wet, take a journey through the heart, wrestle with plants that bite back, and get curious with some creepy crawlies. Over 40 interactive hands on science activities involving 200 of our researchers –fun for all the family.

Meet the scientists and engineers behind the amazing research at Manchester. There will be lots of activities suitable for children of all ages, including face painting and lucky science dips, and there’s plenty to keep adults entertained too. So bring your mum and dad, your kids, and your friends to this free event. Take part in our fun science challenges and become a Manchester Science Star!

On your way see if you can spot our secret scientists along Oxford Road!

And at 3pm there will be a chance to see exploding chemistry at the University’s Flash Bang Show, Chemistry Building, Brunswick Street.
