Witness the region’s finest science communicators as they battle it out to win a place in the FameLab national final.

Contestants will have just three minutes to pitch a concept in science, technology, engineering or maths to the panel of judges. Each judge will assess the finalists presentations on three qualities: content, clarity and charisma.

Armed only with their wits and a few props, our challengers will compete to enthral you with their answers to some of the most bizarre and pertinent questions from the world’s of science, technology, engineering and maths. The result is an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage your curiosity and find out about the latest research.

Finalists from the University of Manchester include:

  • Jonathan Hughes, PhD student in engineering
  • Thomas Pacey, PhD student in physics
  • Katie Walwyn-Brown, PhD student in life sciences
  • Adam Nevin, PhD student in chemistry
