IntoUniversity Manchester North centre opens its doors

We are delighted to share the news that our brand new IntoUniversity Manchester North centre has now opened in Blackley, on the site of the Co-op Academy North school.

IntoUniversity is a charity that provides local learning centres in disadvantaged communities, supporting young people from the least privileged families to gain a university place or another chosen aspiration. The Manchester North centre is one of 30 centres in twelve locations across the UK. The impact of IntoUniversity (IU) is clear with 74% of its students progressing to university compared with 24% of students from similar backgrounds nationally.

The Manchester North centre has been generously funded by donors to the University and will work intensively with local schools including primary, secondary and post 16 learners. The centre has four members of full-time staff and will offer a programme for schools and local young people including academic support, a subject specific FOCUS programme and mentoring from both current students and business mentors. Alongside IU staff, the centre will be supported by current student volunteers and staff from across the institution.

For more information about the Centre, colleagues can contact Rachel Bailey, Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Manager or the Centre directly.
