Celebrating 60 years of development studies at the University

The University of Manchester has been at the forefront of Development Studies for 60 years, starting with Nobel Prize winner Sir Arthur Lewis right through to the current work of our Global Development Institute (GDI).

To celebrate this anniversary the GDI have produced a new documentary film tracing the history of Development Studies at Manchester from its humble beginnings to Europe’s largest teaching and research institute focused on poverty and inequality.
