Equality, diversity and inclusion programme for staff

At The University of Manchester we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) for our whole community, and we’re excited to have just launched our next round of EDI Leadership programmes applications for colleagues. Aimed at developing a diverse pool of leaders for the future, each programme seeks to equip colleagues from groups which are statistically underrepresented at leadership level, who feel ready to create the next step of their career.

With five programmes to choose from, aimed at women, disabled colleagues, LGBTQ+ colleagues, Black, Asian and racially minoritised colleagues, and black women academics, researchers and PhD students, we’re thrilled to be building on the success of our programmes in previous years.

The testimonies of previous participants highlight how valuable and career-changing they’ve been for many:

“If you have a disability and want to be empowered in your career, don’t hesitate, just apply. The programme is accommodating and well-structured and organisers are always open to feedback and dialogue. Aside from significantly boosting my career prospects, I gained a greater sense of belonging and validation (which can be particularly challenging areas for those with disabilities) and this consequently had a notable positive impact on my performance, motivation and overall health. 10/10 would do again.” Alexandra Sarov, apprentice laboratory assistant and alumni of the disabled leadership programme.

We look forward to our next cohort of colleagues starting their programmes in early 2026.
