Hedgehog Friendly Action Group Hosts a Winter Bakesale and Chooses a Logo

The Univeristy’s Hedgehog Friendly Action Group hosted a successful Winter bake-sale to raise funds for The Withington Hedgehog Hospital last month. On 10 December, members of the Action Group set up in the Foyer of The Nancy Rothwell Building with home-baked goods ranging from carrot cupcakes to hedgehog shaped biscuits! The event raised a total of £212 for the local organisation.

Those who came by the bake-sale went away with not only a delicious treat, but also a little more insight into the action group’s mission. Members of the community even stopped by to share personal anecdotes about the animal, making the event a wholesome and community focused afternoon.

To further strengthen the group’s presence on campus, a logo competition was also hosted in early December of last year. The winner, a post-graduate student studying Landscape Architecture at the University of Manchester, produced an amazing logo that the group will be using going forward.

The Hedgehog Friendly Action Group is moving into this semester with plans to continue their great work. As hedgehogs come out of hibernation around the middle part of March, a lot of nature-based activities – such as hedgehog house and insect house building – are looking to take place around then.
