Refreshed Stellify Award launched for new academic year
A refreshed version of the University of Manchester’s flagship Stellify Award is now available for the University’s undergraduate students, offering greater flexibility for students to develop skills, broaden their horizons and make a positive difference alongside their studies.
The Stellify Award is The University of Manchester’s prestigious personal development award. Designed to enrich student life and support personal growth, it encourages students to engage in experiences beyond the classroom, helping them develop valuable skills, explore global issues, contribute to their communities and prepare for life after graduation. The award reflects the University’s commitment to social responsibility by encouraging students to develop a strong sense of ethical, social and environmental responsibility while making a positive contribution to society.
Since its launch, Stellify has helped students gain experience through volunteering, leadership, global citizenship activities, employability initiatives and community engagement opportunities. By taking part, students can build confidence, develop transferable skills and make a meaningful contribution to causes that matter to them.
As of September 2026, new our undergraduate students can join a redesigned award that introduces a more flexible, points-based approach. Students can choose from more than 150 activities and opportunities, ranging from volunteering and leadership roles to careers events, training, paid work and global citizenship activities, creating a personalised programme that reflects their interests, aspirations and development goals.
The refreshed award is structured around four themes:
- Making a Difference
- Becoming a Global Citizen
- Developing my Skills
- Shaping my Future
To achieve the award, students earn points across all four themes and record completed activities throughout their studies. Students who successfully complete the programme receive a certificate at graduation in recognition of their achievements.
The 2026/27 academic year will be a transition year, with some students completing the previous Stellify Award and others following the new structure.
