GM Policy Hub seminar: Can AI help us tackle air pollution
Imagine asking AI for data on the health impacts of issues such as mould exposure and receiving a reliable answer. The University’s GM Policy Hub are hosting a seminar for policymakers to explore this possibility.
Artificial intelligence, alongside strong metadata frameworks, is emerging as a powerful tool for breaking down barriers to data discovery. AI, especially large language models (LLMs), offers a transformative opportunity in how we search and interact with data itself. These technologies can be harnessed for good to answer questions that traditionally require expert triage and access to siloed data sources.
Join the GM Policy Hub on Tuesday, 31 March to hear about research into perceptions of LLMs in data discovery and the importance of access to quality data in solving environmental problems such as air pollution.
Professor David Topping, Professor of the Digital Environment, will discuss ways to unlock the potential for environmental data to inform real-world solutions to wicked problems through toolkits like the Digital Solutions Hub.
The in-person event will take place on campus on Tuesday, 31 March at 1.00 – 2.30pm (with registration from 12.30pm).
If you would like to attend the seminar, please register by emailing policy@manchester.ac.uk with your name, job title, organisation, and any dietary or access requirements or support needs.
