In this short film, hear from Omolade Allen, Lecturer in Global Health and Academic Lead for Civic and Community Engagement and Involvement in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. Omolade reflects on the importance of working with people as equal partners in research, and how meaningful public engagement ensures our work is shaped by the lived experiences of those it aims to benefit. 

She highlights how researchers across the University are collaborating with community groups, voluntary sector organisations and lived-experience partners to make research more relevant, inclusive and impactful. 

As we strengthen our focus on partner-enabled research, Omolade shares how we will continue to build long-term community relationships, and ensure students learn early in their studies how to engage confidently and responsibly with the public as part of their future practice.
