New animation about our zero carbon strategy

Zero carbon posterAt The University of Manchester, we’re committed to a zero carbon future. This means that by 2038, we plan to have completely decarbonised our direct emissions. As part of this strategy, we have just released a new zero carbon animation, underscoring our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

The animation showcases the practical steps we are taking to decarbonise our operations and integrate more environmentally sustainable practices into our plans, policies and processes. These include switching from gas boilers to air source heat pumps, as well as installing LED light bulbs and better insulation. The video can be found on the new environmental sustainability website, which contains more in-depth information about what we are doing to uphold our commitment to sustainability.

Our hard work and dedication towards decarbonising the campus has also been shortlisted for a Green Gown Award in the 2030 Climate Action category. This nomination is a testament to our new zero carbon strategy and serves as a reminder that real change is possible when commitment meets action. Regardless of the outcome, this nomination is a win for us and the planet, showcasing that we can lead by example to create a cleaner and greener future.
