No Time to Waste: Log Your Sustainable Actions

The University of Manchester’s environmental sustainability engagement app, No Time to Waste, has continued to grow since its launch in late October. Members of the University community have already logged more than 5,000 sustainable actions, which equates to 6,054 Kg of Co2e avoided.

The app incentivizes users to make greener choices in every aspect of their day to day lives. Users can opt in to sustainability challenges and subsequently log their positive actions to earn points. Scores are then recorded on a leader board, meaning you can compete with other members of the University of Manchester community.

Each month, there is a focus on one or more sustainability challenges which allows users to earn double points for completing an action within that category. February 2026 focused on Volunteering in line with National Student Volunteering Week, and aimed to remind users that no-matter how small, every action matters.

Additionally, every month, 8x £20 vouchers are awarded to top point winners. These vouchers are redeemable at different shops around Manchester including campus coffee shops, The Eighth Day Café, Nice Things and more.

Every 6 months, the team that has earned the most green points per person will also win £240 pounds to donate to a local charity!

Paul Marks Jones, Senior EDI Partner, said: “I’ve loved completing my actions every week and enjoy telling people about it.  It’s a really good way to think about what I can do to contribute more and the various activities for completion or consideration are really inspirational.  So, imagine my delight when I was rewarded with a surprise prize for being a responsible sustainability enthusiast!  It will be used for a suitable relevant purchase 😊”
