Our graduates making a difference
Each year around 19,000 students graduate from The University of Manchester. Many of these students have made significant positive contributions to society during their studies; through activities such as volunteering, environmental stewardship, public engagement and active involvement with local organisations. Many of our graduates then go on to careers that make a meaningful impact in areas such as healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. Through their work they support public services, drive innovation, and strengthen communities both locally and globally. Their achievements are a powerful testament to our enduring mission to make a difference.
During our winter graduation celebrations in December, we spoke to graduating students about the difference they have made during their time at the University, what inspired them along the way, and how they hope to create a positive impact after graduation.
Social responsibility and civic impact have been part of the University’s purpose since its foundation. Today, this commitment is reflected in the choices our graduates make about where and how they work, and in the ways they apply their learning beyond academia.
These winter graduation films offer a snapshot of how this year’s graduates are thinking about their next steps and the contributions they hope to make.
