Our top five stories in January
Here are five highlights from our January newsletter:
In December, we hosted a Community Conversations event on religious tolerance. The event brought together a diverse group of our academics, civic partners and members of different religious communities to exchange scholarly insight and share lived experiences. It aimed to strengthen faith inclusion and inspire partnerships and ideas to shape future action.
We closed 2025 by celebrating our winter graduates and the impact they’re already making. Speaking with graduates from across our Faculties gave us a personal insight into the social commitment that defines our student community. Watch the videos on our Instagram and via our news page.
Our Justice Hub, who deliver free legal support to those most in need, won ‘Educational Institution of the Year 2025’ at the recent Greater Manchester Pro Bono Awards. Learn more about their work through The Innocence Podcast, which shares firsthand accounts from individuals they have supported after being falsely accused.
Our Great Science Share for Schools campaign has once again been awarded Patronage by the UK National Commission for UNESCO for 2026. This recognises the campaigns commitment to inclusivity and alignment with core values of science, education and culture.
Lastly, if you want to find out more about what social responsibility means in practice, join us in our upcoming staff information sessions, focusing on social responsibility, public engagement and civic engagement.
