Our top five stories in May

Here are five stories we are especially excited to share in this month’s social responsibility newsletter.

Earlier this month we hosted our annual Making a Difference Awards for social responsibility ceremony, where we celebrated the incredible work our staff, students, alumni, and partners do to enhance the wellbeing of society and the environment. You can read about the winning and highly commended projects on our website.

We also hosted our Volunteer of the Year Awards where we celebrated and gave thanks to our many and very impressive student volunteers for sharing their skills and their commitment to volunteering.

The University in partnership with other organisations delivered the Age-Friendly Futures Summit where they shared cutting-edge research, showcased effective interventions, and set a global agenda for a more age-friendly world.

As part of our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly Manchester, we have recently launched the trial of a new free bus service for our staff and students, providing free travel on the 41 bus from Manchester Victoria Station to our University Campus.

Lastly, we are excited to invite you to our Universally Manchester Festival on Saturday 14 June, a free, family-friendly festival for the people of Greater Manchester. We’ll explore in a fun interactive way how the University is contributing to making a greener, healthier and fairer world for everyone. So, come and join us along with your family and friends!
