Sharing our public engagement practice
At The University of Manchester, public engagement is how we share ideas and knowledge, inspire discussion, debate and creativity, and inclusively involve the public in our work.
Our commitment to public engagement is supported through our social responsibility values, embedded in our research and teaching and learning practices, and through the work of our cultural institutions.
Supporting purposeful quality public engagement is reflected in our status as a Platinum Watermark institution with the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE).
In these short films, we share examples of our practice highlighting the rich variety of approaches, perspectives, and people involved in public engagement across the University.
The first set of films show how our engagement practice has contributed to our third submission to the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) – a national assessment evaluating how universities engage with society and the economy at local, national, and international levels. We have achieved the highest possible score for our work on public and community engagement.

The next set of films explores the many ways we engage with diverse publics – from inspiring the next generation, to shaping our research through consulting and listening, to partnering and co-developing research.
