The launch of Hazaar: The zero-waste student marketplace
The University of Manchester is excited to partner with Hazaar, offering our students an eco-friendly, zero-waste platform to buy and sell pre-loved items online and at on-campus market events. Through the Hazaar app, our students can connect within a Manchester-specific marketplace that eliminates the need for postage, offering a more affordable and sustainable way to shop while also supporting student entrepreneurs.
By simply uploading their unwanted items to the app, students can sell pre-loved clothes to fellow University of Manchester students. This innovative system cuts out postage and packaging costs, as students can arrange in-person exchanges on campus. Not only is this great for sustainability and cutting down on waste, but it also creates opportunities for students to earn from selling their pre-loved items.
In addition to the app, termly pop-up markets will also take place around campus. At these markets, student entrepreneurs can set up stalls and showcase their items or creations. The first pop-up market will be held on the 24 October.
