University of Manchester working in partnership with Greater Manchester Citizens
The University of Manchester’s collaboration with Greater Manchester Citizens – an alliance of community, faith, education, health and third‑sector organisations – continues to build a positive force for overcoming injustice across the region.
For months, people across Greater Manchester have been listening to one another, building relationships, identifying the issues that matter most, and organising for change. This has resulted in campaigns on improving services for youth mental health, tackling hate and discrimination, building social cohesion and improving support for those on low incomes.
Through the partnership, University colleagues have contributed insights, participated in research collaborations, and engaged in alliance-wide discussions to shape more equitable outcomes for Greater Manchester residents.
This collective action now sees hundreds of organised people come together at a Delegates Assembly to ask decision makers to respond publicly to the voices of our communities. It is a moment of accountability serving as a neutral public forum connecting citizens with regional leaders to secure commitments on community issues. And it is a moment to turn all the listening, relationship-building and organising of the past months into action and commitments that will change people’s lives.
And you can be a part of this moment. The University of Manchester community – colleagues, students and partners, are invited to attend and take part in shaping collective action for a fairer Greater Manchester. The Delegates Assembly is taking place on Tuesday 10 November at The Monastery Manchester, from 5:00 – 7:45pm.
