Summer round-up

We’re celebrating our 17,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students who have shown extraordinary resilience to graduate during such a disrupted period for them, our university and our country.

PGCE trainees organise online maths classes for refugees

University of Manchester Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme have established partnerships with 700 local schools providing our highly motivated trainee teachers with approximately 70,000 days in schools every year, allowing them to educate and improve the life chances of children in Greater Manchester.

Our graduates inspiring the next generation

This year, over 17,000 students will graduate from The University, many of which are already making contributions to our city, through healthcare, education and protecting the natural environment.

Wellcome ISSF Fund – Inclusive Research Project

We are pleased to announce that the University has been awarded £500,000 of funding from Wellcome, which will be matched with University funds to provide £1M to accelerate and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) throughout our research and discovery approach.

NHS Voices of Covid-19

Dr Stephanie Snow and the NHS Voices of Covid-19 team were recently announced as the winners of the emerging impact research category in our Social Responsibility 2021 Making a Difference Awards.

Monthly round-up

In June our Chancellor, poet, playwright and big supporter of our social responsibility agenda, Lemn Sissay, was awarded an OBE for services to literature and charity in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

New report recognises commitment to social responsibility

In June 2021, The Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) published a new report titled: Business Schools and the Public Good, highlighting best practice from a diverse range of business schools across the UK, including Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS).
