Migrant Voices takeover the Rylands

Saturday 18 June, 1:00 – 4:00pm

Drop in, free event

An event for everyone – the John Rylands Research Institute and Library welcomes musicians from Olympias Music Foundation’s Migrant Voices as part of a Manchester Festival of Libraries 2022. Visitors can meet the musicians, learn about their migration stories and hear them perform their music as they explore all areas of the Rylands.

Olympias Music Foundation deliver sustained, free instrumental lessons to children from low-income families and use music to encourage community integration and wider cultural understanding amongst the multicultural communities of Manchester. Over the last two years, our cultural partner has worked closely with the University of Manchester to deliver ‘Musical Living Library’ events in libraries across Greater Manchester with members of Migrant Voices – a network of 70 diverse global majority musicians from 27 different countries.

Drop into the Rylands to take part in this lively and immersive experience.
