Our role as an anchor institution sees us broaden the impact of our work to raise skill levels, reduce local unemployment and create inclusive growth in Greater Manchester.

The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre, a library specialising in the study of race, migration and ethnicity, recently held their 3rd annual Community History Showcase.

During the summner staff from across the Directorate for the Student Experience visited the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, to understand how monies raised from the Give It Don’t Bin It campaign are invested by the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Our annual Community Festival recently welcomed more than 2,000 neighbours onto campus – young and old – to get hands-on, go behind the scenes and find out more about our work and the exciting research undertaken at the University.

On Saturday 16 June around 2,000 people from our local and wider communities were welcomed onto campus for our second annual Community Festival.

Each year the University’s Diversity Calendar includes a nominated charity.

On Thursday, 7 June student volunteers and some of the University’s construction partners collaborated to give a makeover to the garden at a centre for vulnerable women.

Professor Mahesh Nirmalan, Vice-Dean for Social Responsibility in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, has secured major funding from the Ogelsby Charitable Trust.
