Call for expressions of interest for the 2025 Universally Manchester Festival – a community day for all

Get involved in showing our local friends and neighbours the breadth of work that goes on at The University of Manchester.

As part of our civic commitment to enhancing our relationship with members of our local communities, we are holding our annual university-wide festival on Saturday, 14 June 2025, from 11.00am – 4.30pm.

This year’s Festival builds on the success of last year’s bicentenary celebrations. We have adopted the Universally Manchester Festival branding and will deliver a one-day event – focused primarily on a family audience.

The Festival has been running since 2017 and provides a welcoming event on campus that sees thousands of visitors from our local neighbourhoods and beyond take part in a free, fun, and interactive event. The Festival provides opportunities for individuals and families to engage with our research, learning, cultural institutions, staff, students, and community partners. And it provides opportunities for you to engage with communities you may not otherwise engage with; to share the wonder of your work; and show how you are making a difference to wider society.

“We had an incredible day exploring all the work that the university are doing – there was so much to see and do!” –  Festival visitor

“I look forward to this event every year, and connecting with colleagues across departments and teams, – as well as seeing some familiar faces.” –  University staff member

Three core themes will run through the Festival: creating a greener, healthier and fairer world that is inclusive for all.

The event will take place on campus and the call for expressions of interest is open to all academic and professional staff, students and community partners. From music to engineering, healthcare to literature or science to the creative arts – we want to hear from you and would love you to get involved!

  • If you are interested in taking part in this year’s Universally Manchester Festival and hosting an activity, then please register your interest by completing the expressions of interest online form by 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.
  • If you have any questions, please contact: engagement@manchester.ac.uk

We look forward to working alongside you at the Universally Manchester Festival in June!
