by | Dec 15, 2025

Are you a scientist, social scientist, technologist, engineer or mathematician, are passionate about STEM, and would like to share your work?

Then apply now to be part of FameLab UK, the largest science communication competition and training programme in the world!

FameLab UK is back and searching for the next voice in science communication — open to lecturers, researchers, specialist science teachers, postgraduate students and anyone working with STEM.  FameLab discovers, trains and promotes the best new voices in science. Participants give a three-minute talk on a topic of their choice and receive science communication training, with shortlisted North West applicants going on to a live final. The regional winner will attend a masterclass in Cheltenham before progressing to the UK final at the Cheltenham Science Festival in June 2026.

You can read a blog post from one of the North West Winners Bethany Facer who talks about her top three reasons to get involved!

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool is partnering with the University of Salford to manage the North West hub — applications are open until 16 January 2026. Find out more and apply: https://www.cheltenhamfestivals.org/our-projects/famelab/famelab-uk
