Celebrating a STEM initiative award win at the Educate North Awards
We are delighted to share that the University’s Great Science Share for Schools (GSSfS) has won the STEM Initiative Award at the Educate North Awards.
Since its inception, the campaign has inspired hundreds of thousands of pupils aged 5–14 to ask meaningful scientific questions, investigate ideas and proudly share their discoveries, helping young people see themselves as active participants in science. Its inclusive, non-competitive approach continues to open doors for more pupils and broaden access across a wide range of educational settings. Through strong partnerships, freely available resources and high-quality teacher professional development, GSSfS has grown a vibrant and connected science community across the UK and internationally.
We are especially pleased that the Educate North Awards judges recognised the campaign’s reach, impact and commitment to inclusion, highlighting it as a powerful example of community engagement in education and science.
The GSSfS team extends heartfelt thanks to teachers, educators, funders, collaborators and everyone who continues to champion the campaign’s vision. This recognition is a celebration of the shared commitment, energy and enthusiasm of all those who have helped make its impact possible.
