International Women’s Day 2026 ripple effect: Co-researching work, precarity and contribution in later life

Creative Manchester, one of the University of Manchester’s research platforms welcome you to join us in partnership with MACFEST Muslim Arts and Culture Festival and our sister research platform Healthier Futures for a panel event celebrating International Women’s Day 2026.

The Creative Manchester platform champions research in creativity and creative practice, bringing together research communities with external stakeholders to explore new research areas and address strategic opportunities.

We will be welcoming a panel from Uncertain Futures, a participatory research project exploring art as research, focusing on understanding inequalities around work for women over 50 in Manchester. The panel will include members of the advisory group for the project from the community, alongside researchers.

The event will include a shared lunch, creative performances and a panel discussion with Uncertain Futures. As the event takes place during Ramadan, there will be takeaway boxes available for guests who are fasting to take refreshments away for later.

The free event will be hosted at The Whitworth, in the Grand Hall, on Wednesday 4 March from 12 – 2:30pm.
