You Are What You Eat: A unique dining experience
Artist curated dining pods have recently started popping up around Media City in Salford. These unique pieces of public artwork, dubbed ‘Box on the Docks’ double as private dining spaces for groups of up to seven people. The pods resemble sheds and greenhouses and have been designed by Salford based artists. Each box is different inside, and is served by one of four participating restaurants.
One of the bespoke pods has been designed by Sally Gilford, based on the theme ‘You Are What You Eat’. The artwork provokes diners to explore the link between food, the gut and the immune system. Sally was inspired by the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health’s very own Professor Sheena Cruickshank, and her work on the microbiome.
Since August, diners have been able to book a meal in the ‘You Are What You Eat’ box with Vertigo Restaurant. You can book now via the Eventbrite on the Vertigo Restaurant Website.
The box is located outside the BBC sounds studio in Media City and can be visited anytime.
