Meet Stephanie Snow, Academic Lead for Public Engagement with Research
In this short film, Stephanie Snow, the Academic Lead for Public Engagement with Research, gives a brief overview of public engagement, its importance to the University and how it inspires our work locally, nationally, and internationally.
At The University of Manchester, public engagement is how we share ideas and knowledge, inspire discussion, debate and creativity, and inclusively involve the public in our work.
Public engagement happens at local, national, and international levels. Across Greater Manchester, for example, the BeeWell programme is working with schools and partner organisations to make young people’s wellbeing everybody’s business. In Kenya, a group of students has been working with school children to provide oral hygiene education, as nearly 50% of children experience tooth decay.
Our Universally Manchester Festival is another example of public engagement in action. Staff, students, and community partners came together to enjoy a day of discovery and activities, and to reflect on how, together, we can create a greener, healthier, and fairer world for all.
Our commitment to high-quality public engagement is reflected in our status as a Platinum Watermark institution with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE).
