Our top five stories from March

This month we are excited to announce the launch of the British Heart Foundation’s Centre of Research Excellence, which will serve as a world-class research hub focusing on key cardiovascular diseases. 

A new atmospheric monitoring station has been established at the University’s Jodrell Bank Observatory to improve the accuracy of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions estimates.  

In a move to support local youth and promote digital equality, we have donated laptops to the RAFAC 1263 (Rochdale) Squadron. This will help cadets who wouldn’t typically have access to a computer gain BTEC qualifications. 

The University’s Faculty of Humanities is proud to announce a new partnership with The Access Project, an organisation that supports young people from under-resourced backgrounds to raise their aspirations, access top universities and achieve social mobility. 

Finally, a new report from the University’s Tyndall Centre revealed a roadmap setting out clear, measurable targets for the live music industry to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
