Staff come together for active travel breakfast
Over 100 colleagues came together on 30 April to celebrate all things active travel at the University’s latest staff breakfast event. The aim was to encourage more people to travel to campus by walking, wheeling, cycling or running – even if just for part of the journey.
Whether seasoned cyclists or curious newcomers, attendees enjoyed a free breakfast with colleagues while chatting about how active travel could fit into their daily routine. Vegan and gluten-free options were available, and the event offered a relaxed way to start the day while promoting physical and environmental wellbeing.
The event also featured a popular stall from Biko Bikes and free bike check-ups courtesy of Dr Bike. Staff could drop by for quick maintenance and advice, with many taking the chance to ask questions or learn more about cycling confidently around Manchester.
Active travel brings a whole host of benefits – from better mental and physical health to cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions. It’s a simple switch that supports both personal wellbeing and the University’s wider sustainability goals.
Thanks to everyone who joined us on the day – whether you travelled in actively, stopped by for a chat, or left feeling inspired to try a new commute!
